Where to even get started on this offensive wreck of a joke.

Firstly, this is incredibly degrading to people with depression. People with depression sometimes cry because they are sad, and the fact that you would make fun of such a serious disorder is absolutely disgusting.

Secondly, what about ghosts?

This is despicable. Ghosts say ‘boo’ all the time. It is a huge part of their culture. To see you trivialising that is just gross. You are an awful human being. Not only that, but you are fetishising the wandering spirits of the dead. Insensitive, much?

Another thing? Boo hoo isn’t the sound everyone makes when they cry. Some people make ‘waaaah’ sounds, and some people make ‘uhuu huu huh’ sounds. This is, of course, not a cohesive list. Now how do you think people that don’t cry like ‘boo hoo’ feel when you tell this joke? Excluded, embarrassed and ridiculed are just three of the negative responses that come to mind.

As for positive responses? There are none.

One more point is that some people use doorbells these days, making the ‘knock knock’ aspect irrelevant. People who prefer to ring bells, not knock on doors (for reasons such as germophobia, OCD and many other serious mental disorders) feel odd and alienated when this joke is told to them.

In conclusion, as a seven year old  white cisgendered heteromantic heterosexual human female social justice blogger, I find this joke degrading and despicable to many already suffering minorities. Burn in hell, bitch.
